Croatan Earth First! focuses on defending the wild communities of the piedmont and coastal plain of North Carolina, but because problems like climate change have no boundaries, we sometimes have to fight projects outside of our home. This area is being overwhelmed by new development and is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. We are the last haven for numerous imperiled species, such as the piping plover, loggerhead sea turtle, red-cockaded woodpecker, as well as numerous endemic freshwater fish and clams. |

Currently, Dakota Resource Council is the only organization working on fracking in North Dakota. We work with farmers, ranchers, and frontline communities in the western half of the state to empower voices and inspire action. Our foremost effort is disclosure. We are also engaging the eastern urban areas to form a unified state voice. We want people protected first, not corporations. Dakota Resource Council is a nonprofit, grassroots community organization. The mission of DRC is to form enduring, democratic local groups that empower people to influence decision-making processes that affect their lives. DRC works to protect North Dakota's land, air, water, rural communities and agricultural economy. |

DARRD Recently formed over the summer of 2010 when it became known that the city of Dallas was considering applications for drilling within the city limits. We are only for responsible drilling under strict oversight contained within a strong gas ordinance. Dem Women, or UCDW, is an independent, grassroots organization devoted to bringing more Ulster County Democratic women into the political process and electing well-qualified Democratic women to public office at every level. Dem Women functions as a network and resource for all politically active Democratic women in the county. We provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas and encourage new Democratic candidates and activists by providing mentors, training and support. Dem Women welcomes as members Democratic women and men from every part of Ulster County and beyond, from every walk of life and every constituency. We support and liaise with the Ulster County Democratic Committee, the Democratic Party’s official organization in the county. |
