The West Virginia Surface Owners' Rights Organization (WV-SORO) is a member-supported advocacy group for rural landowners in West Virginia who own the surface of land on which natural gas wells, pipelines, and other infrastructure is present. Our mission is to protect and increase the rights of our members when they conflict with those of natural gas companies. WV SORO focuses on public policy and regulatory changes needed to expand surface owners’ rights and help West Virginians protect their land and water resources.

Gas Drlling Awareness Coalition
570-675-4910
PO Box 275
Dallas, Pennsylvania
18612

We are Luzerne County citizens concerned about the many problems horizontal fracturing (gas drilling) (“fracking”) will bring to this populated and developed area. Our concerns: polluted water supplies, toxic waste, radioactive mud, dirty air, depleted water habitat, noise, eminent domain, loss of farmland, loss of tourism, higher crime rates, more drug use, more traffic, more accidents, lowered property values, and increased taxes. We support clean air, clean water, local solutions, and a healthy economy. We support finding ways to sustain family farms. We support alternative energy manufacturing and distribution. We think the Wyoming Valley ought to be the leader in sustainability rather than marching back into the mines.

We're a year-old, statewide organization that identifies threats to water in Texas, whether that's commodification, fracking, or climate change. Obviously any of these could result in a permanent drought for Texas. Sharon of Bluedaze, reporter Greg Harman of the San Antonio Current, and folks in west-central Texas counties are working to try to wake people up about a new threat to Texas water--a new shale development.
