The West Virginia Surface Owners' Rights Organization (WV-SORO) is a member-supported advocacy group for rural landowners in West Virginia who own the surface of land on which natural gas wells, pipelines, and other infrastructure is present. Our mission is to protect and increase the rights of our members when they conflict with those of natural gas companies. WV SORO focuses on public policy and regulatory changes needed to expand surface owners’ rights and help West Virginians protect their land and water resources. |

The Thompson Divide Coalition was formed to secure permanent protection from oil and gas development of the federal lands in Thompson Divide including the watershed areas. TDC is seeking federal legislation to withdraw Thompson Divide from future leasing and working with current leaseholders to retire the existing leases. |
